I’m inspired by Naomi Wadler speaking up about gun violence, but I wish she could be a kid

PERSPECTIVE | I’m honored to have their leadership

I was in eighth grade when 9/11 happened. I remember an announcement being made and parents rushing to pick up their kids.

I remember being afraid and confused. Shortly after, we had an assembly on what to do if there was a terrorist attack at my school.

But after that, things seemed to quiet down in my suburban Chicago town.

Now, as an adult, I fear for our nation’s children.

When I see the courage and strength of kids like Naomi Wadler, who is speaking out against gun violence, I am inspired. I’m also saddened at the incredible burden that is being placed on their shoulders.
