I moved to New York City almost three years ago with a strong desire to experience the big-city life something that my Midwestern upbringing lacked. But within two weeks of when the coronavirus hit, the hustle and bustle that drew me to the city seemed to completely evaporate. Only after leaving New York City and fleeing to Houston did I realize how much I missed the city. As begins phase one of reopening, I wonder if the New York I return to will be the same one I left.

A world of opportunities arrived in my small town during the pandemic. I’m worried that will vanish.
