The Washington PostDemocracy Dies in Darkness

As extroverts, my partner and I are quick to overdo it. Here’s how we know it’s time to take a break.

If there’s an empty spot on our calendar, odds are one of us will find something to fill it

I find that the terms “extrovert” and “introvert” paint pretty broad strokes about someone’s personality, but I can’t deny that I fall easily into one category. My partner and I are such social butterflies that we tend to run ourselves into the ground trying to attend every event and host every party. If there’s an empty spot on our calendar, odds are one of us will find something to fill it. For that reason, it becomes necessary to schedule days where we have nothing planned.
