During the fall and winter months, parents and children are often encouraged to donate to school food drives. Unfortunately, many parents use these as an opportunity to clean out their pantry. When I was in middle school and high school, my mother and I received food donations, which sometimes included expired and unlabeled food, as well as rusted cans. Being more conscious of your donations can directly help the person on the receiving end.
